"description": "Execute a shell command in the terminal within a persistent shell session.\n\n\n### Command Execution\n* One command at a time: You can only execute one shell command at a time.\n If you need to run multiple commands sequentially, use `&&` or `;`.\n* Persistent session: Environment variables, virtual environments, and\n working directory changes persist across commands.\n* Soft timeout: Commands pause for confirmation after 10 seconds without\n new output unless you provide a longer `timeout`.\n* Shell options: Do NOT use `set -e`, `set -eu`, or `set -euo pipefail`.\n The runtime may not support them reliably.\n\n### Long-running Commands\n* For commands that may run indefinitely, run them in the background and\n redirect output to a file, e.g. `python3 app.py > server.log 2>&1 &`.\n* For long-running commands, set the `timeout` parameter accordingly.\n* If a command returns exit code `-1`, it hit the soft timeout and is\n still running. With `is_input=true`, you can:\n - Send empty `command` to retrieve additional logs\n - Send text to STDIN of the running process\n - Send control commands like `C-c`, `C-d`, or `C-z`\n - Send navigation keys like `UP`, `DOWN`, `LEFT`, `RIGHT`, `TAB`,\n `ESC`, `BS`, `HOME`, `END`, `PGUP`, and `PGDN`\n - Send any `C-<letter>` Ctrl sequence such as `C-a`, `C-e`, or `C-l`\n\n### Best Practices\n* Verify a parent directory exists before creating files or directories.\n* Prefer absolute paths and avoid excessive use of `cd`.\n\n### Output Handling\n* Large output may be truncated before being returned.\n\n### Terminal Reset\n* Set `reset=true` to create a fresh terminal session if the current one\n becomes unresponsive.\n* Resetting the terminal clears environment variables, working directory\n changes, and running processes.",

"description": "Custom editing tool for viewing, creating and editing files in plain-text format\n* State is persistent across command calls and discussions with the user\n* If `path` is a text file, `view` displays the result of applying `cat -n`. If `path` is a directory, `view` lists non-hidden files and directories up to 2 levels deep\n* The `create` command cannot be used if the specified `path` already exists as a file\n* If a `command` generates a long output, it will be truncated and marked with `<response clipped>`\n* The `undo_edit` command will revert the last edit made to the file at `path`\n* This tool can be used for creating and editing files in plain-text format.\n\n\nBefore using this tool:\n1. Use the view tool to understand the file's contents and context\n2. Verify the directory path is correct (only applicable when creating new files):\n - Use the view tool to verify the parent directory exists and is the correct location\n\nWhen making edits:\n - Ensure the edit results in idiomatic, correct code\n - Do not leave the code in a broken state\n - Always use absolute file paths (starting with /)\n\nCRITICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR USING THIS TOOL:\n\n1. EXACT MATCHING: The `old_str` parameter must match EXACTLY one or more consecutive lines from the file, including all whitespace and indentation. The tool will fail if `old_str` matches multiple locations or doesn't match exactly with the file content.\n\n2. UNIQUENESS: The `old_str` must uniquely identify a single instance in the file:\n - Include sufficient context before and after the change point (3-5 lines recommended)\n - If not unique, the replacement will not be performed\n\n3. REPLACEMENT: The `new_str` parameter should contain the edited lines that replace the `old_str`. Both strings must be different.\n\nRemember: when making multiple file edits in a row to the same file, you should prefer to send all edits in a single message with multiple calls to this tool, rather than multiple messages with a single call each.\n\n\nYour current working directory is: /Users/instructor/Code/harness-engineering/outputs/odsc-canned-20261017/profile-exercise6-173006/w6-validator-clean\nWhen exploring project structure, start with this directory instead of the root filesystem.",

"description": "Use the tool to think about something. It will not obtain new information or make any changes to the repository, but just log the thought. Use it when complex reasoning or brainstorming is needed.\n\nCommon use cases:\n1. When exploring a repository and discovering the source of a bug, call this tool to brainstorm several unique ways of fixing the bug, and assess which change(s) are likely to be simplest and most effective.\n2. After receiving test results, use this tool to brainstorm ways to fix failing tests.\n3. When planning a complex refactoring, use this tool to outline different approaches and their tradeoffs.\n4. When designing a new feature, use this tool to think through architecture decisions and implementation details.\n5. When debugging a complex issue, use this tool to organize your thoughts and hypotheses.\n\nThe tool simply logs your thought process for better transparency and does not execute any code or make changes.",

}You
You are an independent validator (READ-ONLY). Work only inside the repository /Users/instructor/Code/harness-engineering/outputs/odsc-canned-20261017/profile-exercise6-173006/w6-validator-clean. Do NOT read or write personal memory, user memory logs, or files outside this repo.
Constraints (must follow strictly):
- Inspect and test only. Do NOT edit source or tests, do NOT create output files, do NOT revert source, do NOT redirect shell output.
- Run Python with PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1 and pytest with -p no:cacheprovider, e.g.:
PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1 /Users/instructor/Code/odsc-workshop/.workshop-venv/bin/python -m pytest -q -p no:cacheprovider
- For repeated checks, use subprocess.run with capture_output=True from a Python script and print the results (do not redirect shell output).
- Inspect git diff/status with git commands to confirm only toyapp/async_jobs.py is modified and tests are untouched.
Context: toyapp/async_jobs.py had an async race — increment() did `current = self.value; await asyncio.sleep(0); self.value = current + 1`, letting concurrent readers in run_batch(50) lose updates (producing < 50). A fix was applied so the read-modify-write is atomic (no await between read and write) while the simulated work stays concurrent.
Repeat the pytest run at least 5 times (up to ~10 times if desired) to check reliability (50 concurrent jobs must produce 50; simulated work must stay concurrent — the concurrency test asserts 30 jobs finish in < 0.08s).
Then return at most 250 words containing: commands run and their results (pass/fail counts), your judgment on PASS or REJECT, and remaining uncertainty. Count your words before returning and keep it under 250.

**Verdict: PASS**
**Checks performed** (all read-only, nothing edited/created):
1. `git status` / `git diff`: only `toyapp/async_jobs.py` modified (1 insertion, 3 deletions). `tests/` untouched. Diff confirms the exact fix: removed `current = self.value; await asyncio.sleep(0); self.value = current + 1` → now `await asyncio.sleep(WORK_DELAY_SECONDS)` then `self.value += 1` (no await between read-write; simulated work still concurrent).
2. Pytest via subprocess capture, as required: `PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1 /Users/instructor/Code/odsc-workshop/.workshop-venv/bin/python -m pytest -q -p no:cacheprovider`, run 8×:
```
run 1: rc=0 :: 2 passed in 0.02s
run 2: rc=0 :: 2 passed in 0.01s
run 3: rc=0 :: 2 passed in 0.02s
run 4: rc=0 :: 2 passed in 0.02s
run 5: rc=0 :: 2 passed in 0.02s
run 6: rc=0 :: 2 passed in 0.02s
run 7: rc=0 :: 2 passed in 0.02s
run 8: rc=0 :: 2 passed in 0.02s
```
All 8 runs passed both tests (`test_run_batch_counts_every_increment`: 50/50; `test_run_batch_keeps_work_concurrent`: 30 jobs < 0.08s), implying the exercise passes as well (2 passed each run, 16/16 total).
3. Post-run `git status --porcelain` → still only `M toyapp/async_jobs.py`; no pycache/output artifacts.
**Uncertainty:** Low. `increment()` is atomic only within a single event-loop thread (monotonic sync `+=`); async-gather interleaving still can't read mid-RMW. Concurrency is preserved since the sleep remains. No remaining concerns.
Final judgment: **PASS.**
